Adding a small amount of chrome and tungsten to White Steel No. 1 eliminates the difficulty of heat treatment. At the same time, the tenacity (resistance to chipping) and wear resistance (long-lasting sharpness) are improved. It is harder and sharper than Blue Steel No. 2 because it contains more carbon than Blue Steel No. 1.
